Collégial International Sainte-Anne
The project consisted of the conversion of a historical religious building into a collegiate level educational facility. The centrally located chapel was given a new function as a library. The original character of this space has been preserved and now serves as a focal point for the six storey building.
The main design concept was to highlight key features of the existing building and compose dynamic spaces with them. The use of illuminated canvas ceilings, floating ceiling volumes, vivid colours, and the wrapping of critically located columns with steel, glass and concealed lighting all contributed to express our concept. Translucent glass was used strategically in the work areas, as guard rails and on the back-lit reception desks to emphasize the contrast between old and new.
LED lighting was selected for this project. Lighting fixtures designed specifically for this college dramatize certain views and make the accent colours stand out. Vertical transportation volumes were added on the exterior of the building, thus allowing the interior spaces to be used to greater advantage.
